tell me about british council language assistantships and which regions of spain are the best
http://www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-ela.htm
has anyone done this as a graduate? i know a few people who did it as part of their french degrees, but i'm thinking of applying for next year when i finish uni and i dunno how easy it is to get a placement if you're not on a language year. are graduates at the bottom of the pile when it comes to assigning places? any experiences?
also, people who know about spain: i have to choose three regional preferences from different groups (see here http://www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-spain.htm). they can assign you anywhere in the region so main priority is somewhere with a variety of reasonably pleasant cities and decent transport links. probably going for andalucia, and i'm considering galicia and the basque country but does anyone know what the language situation is like in the latter two? is it easy to ignore the regional languages completely? my spanish is gonna need loads of work as it is, so i don't rly want to have to spend time getting to grips with *another* language. or are other places in spain better? why does spain have to be so fucking big? any other contributions also welcome
THANKS!!!
