Plastic shoes.
They're just better than leather shoes, aren't they?
I bought some new shoes for work yesterday. I often walk about four miles a day to work and back, and can do a lot of slogging around at work too, sometimes out in the sticks (gypsy sites and the like), so they need to be smart but tough. I got plastic ones for less that £30, because I know they'll serve me well for the money. I got some fancy leather ones from M&S once, and they wore through in a manner of weeks. I got them resoled and they still fell apart. Joke. Why are we still bothering with it? That's before you get onto the animal aspect of it.
Maybe I should just start wearing Crocs.
