Claiming compensation (I'm possibly putting the cost of your car insurance up so feel free to give me abuse thread)
So someone crashed into me 9 months ago and admitted full liability. I'm sure everyone has some experience of those claims people texting them, well I've ignored them up until this week along with the phone calls, when I decided to find out how they got their info and how much they know. Anyway I'm now undecided whether I should claim or not, it's pretty much free money for me (I know that everyone else pays for it) but also that I think i'm against the idea of claiming when I have no real 'right' to the money - even if legally I do. So I might be about to turn down over a thousand pound just because I'm uncomfortable morally with it.
Do you ever find yourself making stupid little stands that impress nobody, have no impact on the wider situation, don't make you really feel better about yourself but directly affect you? To be honest, it seems like the kind of thing a DiSer would do.
And lastly back on the insurance thing it seems crazy and really annoying that car insurers sell the details of crashes, encouraging people to make claims just so they can justify price rises. And they still have the cheek to complain about it. They don't get anywhere near enough criticism for this practice.
