What should I read?
Went on a big charity shop book binge after Christmas in an attempt to pick up as many classic novels and decent contemporary(ish) novels I hadn't read yet, before I wasted my meagre Christmas funds on beer.
Having read The Great Gatsby, One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich and The Catcher In The Rye since then, I am now left with a load of adult books - ie. ones over 200 pages, and I am not sure which to read next. I am using Wedding Preparations In The Country (and other stories) by Kafka as my train and tube book, but I need a house book too.
Have tried to start Catch 22 and The Grapes Of Wrath, but about 60 pages into both, neither are quite right for bedtime reading, the first too scattergun, and the second too epic and rhetorical. Reckon I should save them for the future, but I dunno.
So basically should I persevere with one of the above? Or would one of the following be better...
For Whom The Bell Tolls
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man / Dubliners
Moby Dick
The Castle
...or should I just cop out and read one of the Douglas Coupland books I bought or another kids one like Around The World In 80 Days or The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer or Jekyll and Hyde?
