Just came back from watching 127 Hours
I can't ever remember being so comprehensively mesmerised whilst at the cinema
I wasn't expecting it to be shot with such tremendous kinetic energy and flair - its relentless in how beautiful it looks - even during the gut-wrenching amputation you're left marvelling at the exuberant cinematography
James Franco has guaranteed himself an Oscar nomination here, he carries the film superbly, not an easy task considering he's pretty much the sole character for the bulk of the story
There's just something special about this film, a level of cinematic purity and stripped back emotion that's universally resonant. I am stunned. This is so so much more than a mountaineer hacking off his arm, see it on the big screen!
