Autumn Internationals Thread Weekend 2
Some incredibly clever man put the England, Wales and Ireland games all on at the same time. Cheers.
England turn back the clock and play the best I've seen them play since their 2002/03 pomp. Hard forward getting them on the front foot and backs constantly looking to run and put pace on the ball. If Tindall didn't have the pace of a steamroller England could've scored even more. Ashton's second try was one of the most exhilarating thing I've seen on a rugby field in a couple of years - pure arrogant belief in his ability to do everyone. I was watching the game as a neutral but I was on my feet roaring him on.
Wales play like Wales - terrifically exciting and inventive rugby but not tight enough threw away a lead. Pissed me off because I really dislike South Africa and they've been dreadful against Wales and Ireland both of whom let them off the hook.
The less said about Ireland the better. Very glad I didn't watch it live I would've been doing my nut. The team just seems bereft of leadership at the moment and no one seems to know what the game plan is. We play D'Arcy at 12 last week and keep shipping it wide. We play Wallace at 12 this week and we try to bosh it up the middle?! It pains me to say it, but John Hayes really is done now. Time for Buckly and Court to step up.
The Scotland game made me very, very fearful of what's going to happen next weekend.
I also played this weekend, and in spite of having about 4 hours sleep and still being a little drunk I also turned back the years to my rampaging best in a 42-8 win.
