Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (spoilers)
So, after the opening weekend now, what did everyone think?
I'm disappointed. Given the first film had a shock and awe quality to it, with investment banking and broking brought into a new light, I felt the sequel also must have a similar illuminating impact on the still shady underworld of global finance.
The storyline was too weak and not coherent enough. The film had a multitude of plots and sub-plots. It was also desperately gunning for relevance by giving a large part of the story to green technology.
Perhaps my biggest issue with the film was Shia LaBeouf; an investment banker with an apartment over-looking the Empire State Building, a $1.5m bonus and a penchant for clean energy technology. These people do not exist Holywood, at least not at that age.
On a plus side, I enjoyed all the references to the original Wall Street. (I had re-watched it last week.) I like Gordon's transformation ("Prison was the best thing that ever happened to me), but have forgotten the part when he reverts back to his cavalier selfish old-self.
What did everyone else think?
