SEX BEET live
Sex Beet can be described as a mix of garage rock and noise punk, anchored with slashing guitars and crazy keyboard squeal. They’re nailing all of this summers approved lo-fi, garage and beach vibe touchpoints but whilst their sun-kissed American equivalents are shaping these into a California coast psych haze, UK-based Sex Beet are producing an altogether less sun-kissed sound, running the elements through an organ-ground Crampsian filter with a result that feels like heading down to party at one of those surf-shack go-go dance fests and finding it crashed by a bunch of hard drinking bikers.
FRENCH KISSING live
French Kissing write songs about girls and feelings. They’ve got a 60’s retro pop surf vibe although being based in East London they’re not exactly spending their days ‘riding gnarly waves’. One of them has watched a guy surf once and another has even tried it himself, but he wiped out. Either way their catchy sing-a-long summer surf anthems more than make up for their inadequacies.
CHAPTER SWEETHEART live
Chapter Sweetheart make kind-hearted beatnik punk music with an obvious soul influence. Whilst this may seem like a real amalgamation of genres, considering that the members bonded over a love for early DC hardcore and the guitarist was previously in a death metal band, you’re never really going to know what to expect from this East London five-piece. Also, they’ve got a female keyboard player who’s pretty hot.
