Being a big brother
We're a normal family with precious few extended members. I live in North London, and my Dad, Mum and two sisters live in Wiltshire. Last week my parents told me my youngest 13 year old Sister had a 17 year old boyfriend. I was shocked. I'm not sure what they have done, if anything, but it's a stark realisation that the youngest member of the family is growing up. (It sounds stupid, I know.)
I don't know what I can do and have not spoken with my Sister about it but it forced me to evaluate my role as a big brother. Living 80 miles away renders me ultimately useless anyway, and teenagers are not the best at seeking advice, but I wish my Sisters felt comfortable talking to me, perhaps as an alternative to my parents.
So, my question is, how has your relationship with your older/younger siblings changed and do you expect it to change again in the future?
