Do you have a favourite author?
One who you've read a fair amount of and like most of their works?
I read V and The crying of Lot 49 recently and reckon I could grow to consider Thomas Pynchon in this way, about a third of the way through Gravity's Rainbow and its enormously compelling in its complexity.
Very partial to Douglas Coupland as well, although perhaps as with someone like Easton Ellis there tends to be a lot of repeated themes, you could probably read one of each of their novels and get a good idea of what they're all about..
