Is this (student) budget reasonable?
So I'm trying (with difficulty) to get the budget to work (just - about £15 to spare for the year), and seem to have finally made the numbers add up, but I really don't have any clue if I'm massively under/over-budgeting. I'm not going to be going home in holidays, so it's essentially a case of making student finance work for a few months longer than it's intended to, but never mind.
Okay, so, what I have for the year is:
Rent (w/internet&electricity): £5,100
Food (catered in term time): £1,500
Laundry: £250
Toiletries & haircut: £120
Books & study (super close to the three libraries): £100
Mobile phone: £240
Occasions & events: £400
Insurance: £100
Going out (don't drink): £520
Clothes & linen: £250
Travel: £200
Householdy things: £100
So rent is the only one I actually know the cost of. The estimates sound reasonable to me, but if I'm under-budgeting significantly there's going to be major, major problems. And I don't want to find that out several months in. I'll try and get a job during the holidays, of course, but I haven't gotten anywhere with that in the past three years, so I can't count on any extra funds there. If I get the larger bursary for (and I suspect I'm probably not eligible) then I'd have an extra £1,000 to distribute between some of those / save, but again definitely can't count on getting it.
So is that with £15 spare running it way too close? Honest answers useful. Joke answers tolerated. No answers expected. Etc.
I'm so poor :-(
