News shows that 'make' their own news
For reasons beyond me and that, now that I'm thinking about it, I couldn't justify to myself, let alone other people, I seem to have Channel 5's flagship 5pm news show on in the background reasonably often.
In the last few weeks I've seen them do lenghty segments on their own stings (on a 'cartel' who arranged marriages of migratory convenience and a would-be paedophile who had groomed a 'girl' online) and today they're doing some piss-poor burqa piece on how 2/3 of the country's population (some talking head has just pointed out it's not the population) want it banned.
Their conclusion: BURQA BAN A LONG WAY OFF.
So, erm ... how legal is this? It stinks to me, but I'm guessing there can't be any legal problems with it really, 'cos it's happening. What standards to news broadcasts have to meet?
