After our jam-packed sweat-all-you-likelaunch party in May, which saw DJ Yoda practically tear East Village a neworifice, Nite Sessions is back with one of this year's house sensations: Riva Starr.
The London-based Italian has turned headswith his playful gypsy-inspired and percussive tech-house, including that ofhouse legend Jesse Rose, who released Riva's debut album, 'If Life Gives YouLemons, Make Lemonade', on his Made To Play label. He'll be working thescorching sounds in the basements alongside a raft of bass-heavy guests, including the high neo-junglist priestess of Batty Bass herself, Hannah Holland and be-masked dubstepperSBTRKT.
PeanutButter Jelly Time takeover the lounge with a live performance from the quirky andenchanting singer songwriter LuLu and The Lampshades, dj setsfrom PBJT head honcho Captain Magic, plus Samson and Count Chocula.
Quote from Time Out Clubbing Editor, Kate Hutchinson:
For the past year, I've been really excited aboutLondon's stable of fresh tech-house talent, who have been shaking up themainstream techno and house scene on an international scale while keeping trueto the underground. At the forefront is Riva Starr, whose debut album this yearmade everyone from Claude Von Stroke to Ricardo Villalobos sit up and listenwith new freshly-squeezed ears. I'm chuffed to have him headline the next Nite Sessions before heflies out to wow Ibiza, especially as it's his only London club date so farthis summer. His slick globe-trotting productions are perfect for thesun-drenched festival season and his set will be sure to kickstart a long (andhopefully hot!) season of partying with a Balkan-inflected bang.
