let's talk about tv shows with narratives that get re-worked in hindsight, the longer the show goes on.
i've been thinking about this a bit
first with just finishing battlestar galactica
they obviously didn't have the ending....or even the beginning....when they started, and it all just poured out in the final season.
this led to a few inconsistencies which they dealt with, quite well i think, in a feature length called 'the plan'.
and then obviously we are talking about lost...and ashes to ashes to a lesser extent maybe....where, by the sounds of the threads, they are going back into their history a bit, or changing things from the original intentions.
so my point is
is this fine?
should writers have a better idea of the bigger picture when they start, or is it fine that they come up with the true purpose of the show, as it were, a few seasons in.
i think the thing is....maybe it can't be helped....but it always seems so slapdash, like a kid cramming his homework on the day it is due in...
i dunno....any thoughts?
