Friends and their stupid theories
So, I have a friend who recently told me about her theory that Lady Gaga is three different people. She believes this to be an absolute truth, because her tattoos are inconsistent and she looks different in various videos. Her faith in this is unshakeable, despite my assertion that that's kind of her schtick, different costumes and that.
Another friend of mine at work told me about how Jay Z is a Freemason who is using his influence on behalf of the Devil (he is quite the Christian). He has decoded the lyrics or read about it on some website and, again, there is no room for debate on this. The Blueprint refers to the architecture of the organisation and all the different numbers refer to the level he has risen to in it. There was also something about his hat covering his face on The Black Album. I didn't try and debunk this one as I had no intention of getting in to a serious discussion about a pointy-tailed demon controlling a rapper.
Another friend has started saying of late that David Icke might be right about a lot of things, except the giant space lizards, which I thought was what made up the bulk of his theorum. I tend to veer to the Michael Barkun view that if you've established your world view and are selective with your evidence, you can make an attempt at backing it up. Forfty percent of people know that.
In none of these cases did I actually ask about any of these things. This information was doled out because they all genuinely thought I should know this stuff. Have any of your friends divulged similarly odd theories?
