Armond White: Crazy Bastard Film Critic
It's nice to have a good range of film criticism. I read Roger Ebert because he's enthusiastic, open-minded and knowledgable. Sight And Sound take care of the more intellectual, interpretive reviews. Little White Lies are wonderfully attuned to the actual audience experience of seeing a movie. Mark Kermode is endearingly mock-edgy. A.O. Scott is a bit of a dick, but gets a lot of things right. Philip French is really old and gets a lot of things wrong, but he's enjoying himself and he knows his 50s-70s cinema better than anyone. David Thompson is both knowledgable and creepily intense.
