Beckham does his Achilles tendon, and is pretty much guaranteed to be out of the World Cup, particularly since there's no basically chance of Capello taking a half-fit player with him. Gotta feel for him given the effort he's gone to in order to try and make sure he does feature somewhere, but it's not the disaster that some journalists would probably have you believe - no way is he as important to England as he was five years ago.
The top five all record wins, putting further pressure on Rafa with Liverpool set to play tonight, particularly with only Portsmouth to beat. Clearly not too much of significance happened, because I didn't have the media shovelling anything down my throat this morning or yesterday. Nice to see Hodgson lost with grace though. More managers like him please.
Big scores at Burton Albion, where Cheltenham won 6-5, and at Rushden & Diamonds who beat Gateshead 8-0.
Celtic and Raith both go through in the Scottish League Cup, Ross County earn a draw at Hibs and Rangers throw away a 3-1 lead to draw at home to Dundee United. In cup football south of the border, Stevenage march on with a 5-1 win in the FA Trophy. I really hope their day at Wembley is ruined by a last minute own goal off someone's arse.
David James tries to save 8 jobs at Portsmouth and Pete Storie resigns while there's rumours of another US based takeover bid at Liverpool.
Landon Donovan returns to LA Galaxy despite efforts from Everton to try and keep him on. David Moyes says he'll happily take Donovan on again next January.
Hendon drew 0-0 against 10 men at Carshalton on Saturday. Given how one of our strikers played and how much effort he put in, we may as well have had 10 men ourselves. Disgraceful. Thankfully he's returned to Farnborough after the end of his loan spell.
I'm sure there's lots more, yes?
