early one, i'm off to bed in a while. apologies if this is Arsenal-centric. have to say enjoyed that game immensely last night. some of you will point out, quite rightly, that Porto were pretty shambolic defensively - (a player dancing through your defence to create/score a goal not once but twice in a game is pretty hmmmmm) - but you can't argue with a 5-0 scoreline really.
the bit i enjoyed most, even more than Nasri's goal, was Bendtner and Eboue celebrating the 5th goal together - these two lads were on the receiving end of a fair bit of stick last season, but they're firmly popular now. (when Ramsey broke his leg it was notable that they were the two who stayed with him along with Glen Whelan). Eboue in particular - after that Wigan game last season you wouldn't have blamed him for looking for a way out of the club, but he's knuckled down, stuck at it, toned down the more unsavoury parts of his game, and when he's been called upon in the last few weeks he's been fantastic. also, there was never a hint of him having a chip on his shoulder with the fans, which is to his credit. it was great to see him giving his shirt to that fan at the end and lapping up the applause.
the other game looked a bit like a humdinger, Bayern winning out in the end but Fiorentina unlucky. didn't get to see any of it cos i was working, unfortunately.
Bent got a hat-trick as Sunderland trashed Bolton to gain a bit of breathing space, Birmingham got revenge on Portsmouth.
Rangers took another step towards the SPL with a 2-0 win at Kilmarnock.
Tonight, Man U VS Milan - The Bloodening
and i would love to see Lyon defeat Real. everyone likes Lyon, don't they?
