It's been all quiet on the monkey front in india lately...
Which begs the question: are they cool with it now?
I remember about nine, eight years ago there was a 10,000 monkey invasion problem in Dehli - macaques everywhere, mugging people and generally being bloody dangerous.
And then they couldn't do anything, because the monkey is sacred.
And THEN some bright spark decided that macaques are afraid of langurs - A BIGGER BREED OF MONKEY.
"Our approach has been to train bands of larger, more ferocious langur monkeys to go after the smaller groups of Rhesus macaques."
So they released *those* into the city, and it actually worked, except they now had bigger, angrier and teritorially paranoid monkeys in residence instead.
THEN that politician got pushed off a balcony to his near-death by several of those bastards.
And now it's just kind of a 'yeah, we're fucked' situation. It must completely blow having a sacred animal that you can't do shit about. It's the equivalent of a swan invasion here (deadly!!). But this is the same place that if a cow gets onto the train tracks you won't be catching a train anytime soon either.
I mainly wanted to write the word monkey a lot, but it just seems so odd that they've gone 'we'll have to lump it'.
