Guys... I Have a Problem (gaming centric)
I can't get into games anymore. I've recently picked up Halo 3: ODST and it's just not compelling enough for me to really enjoy it. I'm not sure if it's one of three things:
- I am too impatient?
I don't like games that aren't immediate, or have a compelling story. I dislike Modern Warfare 2 because it's story is batshit bullshit and the gameplay is unforgiving. That's my fault on the gameplay side, sure, and I don't need a good story to enjoy the game. Christ, my favourite games don't even have a story.
- I am too easily bored?
I hated crackdown because I had to do everything. I hated Wolfenstein for the same reason. I seem to have an aversion to open world gameplay. I really enjoyed GTA because of the city, and the character i was playing, and the sense of scale. Crackdown sounded like the greatest thing ever but the game just sort of said "Right, there you go. Go on! Do it!". I might be condiditioned to enjoying level based games.
- Is it because I don't buy games?
I have love film and i just sort of get them for a bit and give them back straight away basically. I am going to stick with Halo because I know it's got excellent online stuff, but the last game I bought that I really liked was Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and they are basically score attack beat em ups, which I played years and years ago. Harumph.
My problem I know. Or am I just outgrowing them? I never thought I would, but now I'm not so sure... :/
