help - mac / ubuntu
Anyone who knows their way around this shit - PLEASE help.
So I have a mac mini with Tiger installed on it.
Just for shits & giggles (actually, so I could have a play and find my way around it), I just installed Kubuntu on it. The mac is partitioned. Someone more tech-minded than I did this for me - partitioned it initially so we could then install Kubuntu on it and choose between each OS. Then when we went to install Kubuntu it wanted to do its own partition, so if I remember rightly, we deleted the original unused drive (just rendering it as free space) and then let Kubuntu do its thing.
The problem is, I can't now get anywhere near OS X. It boots automatically into Kubuntu. Some nosing around online reveals this is something to do with a bug? ...Which has deleted the master boot record?
Another interesting quirk of this whole fucking fiasco is that the keyboard and mouse don't seem to be recognised until I'm actually logged into either OS, so pressing things like C or Alt during start up have absolutely bugger all effect. (We tried editing the menu.lst file in Ubuntu, and a menu came up during start-up asking if we wanted to log in normally or in recovery mode - still no mention of the other volume though, and anyway, the keyboard doesn't work til you get into the OS, so we couldn't use the menu anyway.)
Does anyone have any ideas how I can solve this problem?
Taking a hammer to the bastard machine is probably the final option.
