...and they said i shouldn't watch paranormal activity at home on my own
hands down the most scared i've ever been watching a film.
struggling to walk through the darkened house now without being crippled by goosebumps.....and 'witchy woman' by the eagles just came on the wireless!!!!...gulp.
on a serious note, i can completely understand the haters. if you want to be scared you will be. if you're more pugnacious and challenge it to frighten you, it probably wont.
with an empty house at 2 in the morning i'd pretty much sealed my fate. thursday lunchtime, with a bunch of hacks and notebook in hand, evening drinks planned after the screening, you'd notice the cracks i'm sure. but seeing as most cinema is based on the suspension of disbelief i think it's a bit rich for critics to come out moaning that the film only works if you let it, as if people that were scared by it were almost weak and giving in to the concept.
and if i read one more
'well...y'know...it's not actually about demons...it's really a film about relationships and the you-tube generated male/female dynamic in a post-narrative pre-apocalypse post-office world...y'know....it's very layered...i spotted at least ten layers...maybe eleven...no actually...there were just ten layers. just ten.'
boring.
it's a film about a big demon with a big demon cock who'll knock your door down with it if you give him half the chance.
