being ripped off by relatives
case 1
I used to go to visit family in Holland regularly. One time I left £250 with one as spending money for when I next came back. When I next went back for a few days I only took about £50 as I had £250 waiting. The relative told me she'd spent the money paying bills and didn't have a penny to give me. The thing is she had lots of notice of me coming over and could have let me know about the money prior to me arriving rather than hitting me with it as a holiday surprise
case 2
lent a relative a couple of guitars, a practice amp and multi effects unit. Knew he wasn't using them, he just puts on music and jumps about the living room with a guitar pretending he's playing along. Asked him for the amp and effects back recently to lend to a friends kid who has genuine desire to be a good guitarist and practices daily. Had told the kid I was going to get the stuff back but when I asked relative he said he'd 'lost' the amp and effects. I'm translating lost as sold and he's made no offer to replace. As I'd promised them to the kid I gave him another practice amp and bought another multi effects
I'm just venting here, this kind of behaviour from pretty close relatives just seems a bit off in my age group, expect a wee bit more responsibility from people in their late 30's/early 40's
any similar tales of family treachery ?
