feels natural to me, kinda strange to force the vowels into the shapes that they'd be if I was just speaking. None of this fucking emo super american bollocks though. For some reason I have to sing things as grass and bath not grarse and barth even though I'd never speak them that way. Strange.
yep

I impersonate the singer of whichever song I'm singing.
Otherwise I put on a Scottish accent.

I've been listening to so many Scottish bands recently that's it difficult not to put on their accent.
Twightlight Sad, Phantom Band, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Rod Stewart, etc.
I do it to the most non-Scottish things in the world though.
I've actually scientifically proved that it's not possible to sing Into My Arms by the Lemonheads without sounding like the gayest man in Fife.
Coincidentally
The Gayest Man In Fife are supporting Lemonheads on their upcoming US Tour.
How's that for a bit for of synchronicity?

For far four
Gayest Man in East Fife five

No one knows pv is Scotch, it seems...
I presumed she was but didn't want to spoil the joke.
Sometimes, Theo, jokes are better when you don't explain them.

Try singing along to anything in the style of Tim Armstrong from Rancid.
Improves the song by at least 13% or your money back.
:D
I find that singing any song in a Yorkshire accent automatically ruins it.
Especially rap.
I love putting on a Yorkshire/Derbyshire accent to things.
Seriously, Under The Bridge in an awful mining town accent is a fucking TUNE.
I DUN EVER WANNER FEEL, LIKE I DID THA DAY.
A west midlands

can just about tolerate any accent
barring the london cockney smack rat in fact
What is the acceptability level of singing in an American accent, anyway (if you’re not a Yank)?
Good? Bad? Not evil?
I dunno I think mine is a slightly americanised version of my talking voice
feels natural to me, kinda strange to force the vowels into the shapes that they'd be if I was just speaking. None of this fucking emo super american bollocks though. For some reason I have to sing things as grass and bath not grarse and barth even though I'd never speak them that way. Strange.
i fall back on the old favourate

or else i accept my limits and try (unsuccessfully) to emulate leonard cohen
always sing in my own accent
y'know, just to see how much i can ruin the song, sometimes i put on a weeje accent
I sing in my natural wakefieldian accent
unless i have to sing it in american.
