"lol..wolves we can beat u with out b team and down to 10 men lol...thats why your sh!t" (Football Thread)
Morning all,
Thread title is a facebook status update from a humble Man United fan.
Carling Cup last night threw up absolutely nothing of interest for neutrals.
A moment of quality from Danny Welbeck and Michael Owen saw the holders through against Wolves after Fabio was sent off for a bit of a Jerry Guscott special. Wolves seemed to play well but lacked a cutting edge.
Man City go through after extra time after a Zoltan Gera puts Fulham a goal up with an absolute pearler.
Anderson da Silva (I think) also scores a belter in the one 'shock' of the night as Mark Robins' Barnsley side beat Burnley 3-2. Big Brian Jensen appeared to snap in two. Hope he's ok. Tony Gubba's description of this as a 'giant killing' was a little wide of the mark.
Peter 'Why the fuck am I always sub?' Crouch nets a hatrick for Spurs against Preston in what pretty much seemed a re-run of their 2nd round tie with Doncaster. His 3rd goal was delightful. If Zola or Zidane had scored that the world and his wife would be creaming themselves this morning.
Joe Cole returned as Chelsea edged out QPR by the only goal. Kalou believe it?
Stoke came back from 2-0 down to beat Blackpool 4-3. 48 goals scored in the last 15 minutes at The Britannia.
Another nail was hammered in Phil Brown's coffin as his 2nd string were throbbed 4-0 by Everton. Tasty finish by Yakubu in his first start since being injured in 1973. Hull are at Anfield next. Ha!
Is that all of them?
The government are considering withdrawing their £25m grassroots investment to the FA after condemning them, the Premier League and Football League in part for failing to act sufficiently on 7 challenges facing the game that were highlighted after the Burns report 4 years ago. Sadly, if this happens it's going to affect the Womens game and those at grass roots level.
Hum....
Bromsgrove Rovers have been hit with a winding up order.
