No real upsets in the League Cup last night, if such a thing can exist in that tournament. Arsenal overcome a 10 man WBA to win 2-0, Carlos Vela returning from injury to finish the scoring. Teen of the moment comes under scrutiny for some alleged over-acting in the red card incident. Haven't seen it myself. Stoke battle back from 2-0 down to win 4-3 with their very own 6th minute of stoppage time winner, Portsmouth go from a goal down against Carlisle to win 3-1 and Bolton triumph over West Ham by the same scoreline after extra time. Leeds fail to score despite a million chances to do so, Liverpool don't despite having relatively few. Mascherano could be in trouble for lashing out during the game.
Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov will get their first starts of the season against QPR tonight. I don't think I'm going out on too much of a limb when I say Chelsea are going to dish out a spanking tonight. Man Utd face Wolves and City take on Fulham, a side who've had the better of them over the last few years.
Barca retake the top of La Liga with a convincing 4-1 rout over Racing Santander. Watched bits and pieces of the game and have concluded that a) everyone who said Ibrahimovic would flop there is silly and b) the defending there is, by and large, just as bad as the detractors claim it is. Entertaining though.
Rumours are circulated that Sol Campbell has left Notts County after just one game at the club.
Also, I've just noticed I said stoppage rather than injury time up there. Stoppage is better, don't you agree?
