<upbeat Monday thread> Have you ever had a potentially life-threatening operation?
If so, how did you feel about it.
I'm booked in for a pretty minor heart operation in a month's time but read the details and one of the risks is "death". There's a less than 1% chance admittedly so I'm being a bit irrational but it's bothering me far more than I feel probably should. For some reason, "there's a more than 99% chance it won't happen" isn't really taking the edge off "I could be dead in four weeks' time".
I actually had a more major heart op was I was a kid where the risk of death was a bit more significant but my parents understandably decided not to mention it beforehand so that bothered me a bit less.
So anyway, have you ever had risky surgery? How did you react to it?
