Omar Little in The Wire *SPOILER ALERT* Please do not proceed if you are yet to enjoy this prog
I have crammed almost all five seasons of the wire into my brain in the past three weeks.
I have enjoyed almost all of it immensely.
I have just finished watching episode 8 of series 5 - the one where the little kid murders Omar in the Korean grocery store.
At first I felt a little underwhelmed - I had convinced myself that Omar was on a collision course with Marlo, Snoop and Chris to climax the whole show. It seemed to me that to die by some random kid was a waste of potentially great plot material. Thinking about it today though I have changed my mind. I now see this as (yet another) masterstroke by the writers. No glamour, no big shoot out, no revenge, no last dying words, no emotion.
One minute stalking the streets, his very name almost legendary bring fear and terror, the next just another crime stat laying in a pool of blood - and no body particularily cares.
