David Fincher to direct Facebook movie?
This is so strange, his other film that got canned sounds a lot lot better and why is Aaron Sorking writing a movie about a site he only registered on to tell people he's making the movie?
From The Guardian.
David Fincher may direct the new film about the founders of Facebook which is being written by West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin, according to the Hollywood Reporter. If he signs a deal, the movie could be shot before the end of the year.
Facebook: the Movie, as it will probably not be titled, will reportedly focus on the founders of the social networking site, Harvard alumni Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, who set it up in February 2004 as a means for their fellow students to keep up to date with each others' lives. Sorkin opened his own account on Facebook last year in order to break the news of his appointment and research stories surrounding the site.
Fincher last directed the awards season favourite The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was nominated for 13 Oscars, winning three. His next project had looked like being a return to the serial killer themes he examined on 1995's Seven and 2007's Zodiac, but production of Torso, based around a case for the famous Prohibition-era enforcer Eliot Ness, fell through when studio Paramount allowed its option to lapse. The filmmaker still has an adaptation of the graphic novel Black Hole on his slate.
