Inherited attributes
Hello dudes.
I was just thinking about instinct, and where it coms from. It seems that much human behaviour is dictated by instinct. Instinct seems to be something that is built up over years through personal experience. It is dependent on someone's world view. For example, someone who has suffered at the hands of others might consequently have a world view that necessitates treating others with suspicion.
But from simply looking at people from different generations, you can see that they inherit attributes from their parents. So, do they also inherit personality attributes? If so, does that means that they can also inherit other attributes? Could instinct be congenital? If instinct is congenital, and instinct is based on knowledge and experience, does that means it is possible that instinct and experience, which are form of knowledge, can be passed on?
Basically, natural characteristics are suggestive of a world view predisposition, which implies inherited knowledge.
Having a cat makes me think about inherited knowledge. This cat only knew other cats for the first few weeks of it's life, but is attracted the red things in a way that suggests a carnivorous nature. I don't imagine it's previous domestic life offered much opportunity for hunting / eating meat, but the instinct is still there.
I don't know what has been written in this area, so anyone who has studied this stuff might easily bludgeon me for being ignorant of the current thinkng. So, be gentle if that's the case. I'm just thinking some things through innit.
