monthly film/bands/and that night jag (london and EDINBURGH-centric)
hi!
this is what it says in the title. i'm sorry. if you're in Edinburgh, skip to halfway through.
this month's movies at Bardens in Dalston for free, this Wednesday 20th, include...
lots of short films including some by Scarytree Films (who had some great films on last month too), Beth Murphy (of Times New Viking) and Rebecca Loar who go under Bang Wash Productions, Ross Blake (from Buttonhead) and some really lovely super-8 films by Ben Barton - these start at 8 sharp (!)
a screening of Andy Warhol's Flesh, starring Joe Dallesandro (of Walk On The Wild Side fame), Candy Darling and Jackie Curtis and directe by Paul Morrissey, in which Little Joe hustles to pay for his girlfriend's girlfriend's abortion.
free bingo with a cool prize
Girl Mountain live - "play small keyboards hooked up through pedals and hit things and say stuff. plastic swords. spirit conjuring. spells. jokes." he's really good, reminds me a bit of early Sebadoh. http://www.myspace.com/girlmountain
- he'll also be selling and giving away some of his ace comic books.
Juarez live - "Performing synth-Ondes Martenot fuckery and a'cappella. Soon to include grunge-auto-harp-blood." http://www.myspace.com/yrfaceisarapescene
- i've heard extremely good things
and a spoken word-cum-performance by Ben Hunt, which promises to be great.
and DJs til 2, Chelsea Girls (& guests). they're new and a lotta fun
and as always free popcorn. you can find the event on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=74202048673

FAO Edinburgh people:
for the first time this month this is gonna happen in Edinburgh too, at The Bowery on Roxburgh Place.
we'll be showing the feature Llik Your Idols: The Cinema Of Transgression, a really good documentary about some pretty extreme no-wave influenced filmmakers in 80s New York. includes contributions from the likes of Lydia Lunch, Thurston Moore, Nick Zedd, Richard Kern, Joe Coleman, Richard Hell and so on.

Super Adventure Club (thanks to the DiSer who recommended) will also be playing live, fresh from their tour supporting Future Of The Left.
