tell me about your local small game shop/record shop
game shop - Solid Gold Games Centre. Used to be so damn good, I would go in there as a kid and swap in games all the time. You'd actually get a decent bit of money for your trade ins, unlike the Game and Gamestation of today. For a while a girl called Kirsty worked there and she put a Mew on my gameboy cart :') happy moment finally having a Mew. Think she works in the cinema now or something. Then this other guy worked there and he was fired for selling 18 games to kids outright. It died when the 360 came out because the guy that was working there at the time held a Halo tournament with the prize being a 360. My friend won but he didn't give him the xbox for months. So it got a really bad rep and plus the guy was a bit of a nutter and it closed down. To this day there is a poster on the window saying something to the effect of thanks to all the supporters that stayed with us the whole time THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE.
Record shop - Goldrush! Fantastic place with a limited amount of CDs. Before the internet I would order things they didnt have through there. 2 brothers that were almost identical worked there. When you took a CD up they always slammed it on the desk, breaking the inside bit that holds the CD. It's closed now too, probs cos of internet.
Good times!
