A Prayer for Owen Meany
I have been reading this for a few weeks. I really enjoyed the first chapter, and it has had good moments throughout, but the further I've got into it the more frustrated I have been with Irving's waffling prose. I am nearly through it, but there are still 100 pages or so to go that I don't know if I can handle that much. He just keeps going on about how rubbish the 60s were and how much he likes Thomas Hardy, but it doesn't (for me) add to the narrative much, and there aren't any characters I still care much about or identify with.
So, I've seen it recommended on here before and was wondering if those who've read it think I should persevere. Any opinions appreciated
