watching tv the traditional way is dead...stand up...stand up for the box set...stand up..
(heres looking at you bumbler 'box-set behemoth' lona-smithe)
no big shakes with this statement.....it's obvious..real obvious....but still...the idea of rationing an episode a week....it just plain doesn't work as well as lumping a boxset down at your own speed.... i don't think i've watched a programme at the allocated time since my parents got sky+...but still....watching one episode a week, even at your own time, just doesn't work as well in comparison..
new series of mad men is suffering i think because of this....and also generation kill didn't hit the way it would've if i'd watched on dvd in a couple days
the boxset of the west wing is a joy but i think i would struggle if it was one per week
some bloke highlighted this issue in the guardian the other day and it's just spot on.......'It is one of total immersion - often to the point of compulsion and obsession. It is one of revelation and rediscovery'...... http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2009/mar/06/joy-box-sets) ...
here's a question....did anyone any part of the wire one per week on fx and not the dvd's?....
