today I met the most annoying drummer
Maybe we're a really crap band, but no drummer that came to an audition has ever acted so ignorantly.
First of all, he acted like he had no emotions. We played our unfinished songs, he played the drums, it seemed to be wquite ok, and then he started explaining how we should do our songs: we should have lyrics, then think about the song structure, riffs etc.
Thank you Mr Nobody-that-came-to-our-audition-and-not-we-came-to-his, for you advice, can you just play the drums.
But no, he refused to play our songs, because they are made in a wrong way and we should have lyrics first.
There was awkward silence and he was starting to look pissed off, he assumed that would play covers as we did have no songs made "right".
The audition ended when he was shocked that our guitarist changed the strumming pattern of Arctic Monkeys 'No Buses' 'cause, actually, we didn't listen to that (or any other AM song) for months. The guy was furious that we in has words "strum a simple rhythm right" and suggested us to disband and learn to play.
Now that's really frustrating, I don't care if you can play Cassius or Fluorescent Adolescent rhythm right. Don't bloody try to teach us to "create music the right way" and "cover other bands (that we don't even take as our influences) right"
Wow it's hard to find people who doesn't think there's rules of creating music when you're living in Eastern Europe.
Rant over for now.
Anyone had similar experiences?
