The Class (Entre les murs)
One of the best film I've seen all year, and the more I think about it the better it becomes.
The kids were perfect, the subtext on identity and belonging, the documentary style shooting, everything.
It could've been easy to make it one of those movies where an idealistic young teacher wins over a bunch of unruly students but instead it sticks with more plausible action. It never lets it's politics get in the way of telling the story, there aren't any of the grandstanding monologues about hope and the youth of today that it could have had.
Simple and subtle.
