She was lying on the bed, stark naked and surrounded by thousands of condoms
Someone I know found a book called "Taking Liberties" - by a journalist called Keith Austin...published in 1993. There's a grammatical mistake on the first page AND the passage they chose to highlight by reprinting it on the back cover reads:
She was lying on the bed, stark naked and surrounded by thousands of condoms. "Taylor darling, you needn't have gone to so much trouble; three would have done." Three?. Was she serious? Three? How long was she staying? A week? Taylor Coleridge - gentleman, wag, good all round geezer and owner of the most spectacular collection of silk ties this side of Hong Kong - unveils six tales of love, friendship, protection rackets and legs that bend both ways. Hauntingly sad or achingly funny, Taylor Coleridge will warm the cockles of even the hardest of hearts. Taking Liberties is Sunday Times journalist Keith Austin's first novel.
Now...that doesn't make sense, quite does it? I mean - if he's implying that they'd need 3 condoms to last a week...does he want her to stay for years and years? and thus has bought thousands of blobs in advance? He's meant to be a lothario and all that.
It's going to make my brain burn down SRS
but yeh luool eh?
