Revolutionary Road: The Movie (spoilers)
it's good but not great
nowhere near as brutal as the novel
the pacing is wrong, the audience doesn't have time to really get a sense of the alienation and frustration the Wheelers feel, so the breakdown and the ending are robbed of some their power.
the way franks affair has been inserted it seems a lot more exploitative and one sided than the novel.
without the subtlety of Yates writing Aprils decline makes much less sense. or perhaps winslet wasn't convincing enough.
dicapprio however, is excellent. once things get rolling he really gets across a sense of how conflicted and frustrated he feels.
the supporting cast are all great
and the final shot is perfect.
