Email etiquette
Everyone's been sent an email from the course leader man and amongst other things, it said:
"I would also like to take this opportunity to raise with you the issue of email etiquette. Very few of the emails sent to either Isobel or myself begin: Dear Isobel/Ms Lester, or Dear Gary/Professor Rawnsley. You should certainly not begin an email with 'Hey'. Some of the emails have no greeting whatsoever. The grammar is shocking and the use of text message language is unwelcome. In future please make sure you make a greater effort to follow accepted email etiquette and write in recognisable English."
Then someone's sent a response not only back to the prof, but to everyone who received the initial one saying:
"Hey
I'm writting to you about email etiquette. I think that we shouldn't worry about making
sure our grammer is correct (I deliberately spelt that wrong). Why do universities have
to be so bureaucratic? Why? I mean come on guys. Your trying to make us conform. Our
best experiences from life are created because we're all different which thus gives us
new experience and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing
horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. There's too many rules in the
world in general, so many stoopid rules and do you not think this is just another one of
those?
Warmest Hugs.
Chris
