Getting one up on your bank.
Sort of.
I have £500 credit card limit. I'm several hundreds of pounds from it but I wanted it extended anyway in case of emergency. So I phoned RBS and asked them to extend it to £1000, they asked my annual income, I told them, they said "sorry sir, you can't extend your limit until May, you haven't had the card for a year yet.". I was like "No!" and they were like "Yes!" and I was like "No!" again before I conceded defeat. Aparantly there's nothing she could do. I'm sure there was.
So, I went to the RBS website and applied for a credit card there. Put in on my details and low and behold I was allowed another credit card. One with over twice the limit I previously requested and with I lower APR.
I win, RBS.
I will simply transfer the pittance I have from the previous card onto the new one for all it will cost and viola! i have my limit extended and a cheaper interest rate.
To re-iterate, I win, RBS.
They really could have saved me all the hassle. My living costs each month are so low (~£250 all in) means that I could clear my credit card balance any month if I so wished. So it's not like I'm extremely poor and shouldn't have a credit card.
I blame the credit crunch.
That's my story for the day.
Feel free to comment on RBS are the only winners here given they now have me by the balls with a bigger credit limit and thus will probably squeeze more money out of me.
How is your day?
I can't even check my Hotmail at work now, this is madness.
