Do you recycle all your recyclables?
another good thread, brusma. don't stop me now, i'm having such a good time, i'm having a ball.
TAKE THAT SOCIETY!!
and did volenteer type stuff at uni after that in conservation, I have fallen off with that recently due to personal problems but one day I will be back on it. So yeah I did loads of stuff in my comunity, I've lost count of all the paths I've maintained, woods I've managed, habitats I've maintained.
hark at me, bitches.
sometimes the contractors actually deliver them.
and my housemate keeps leaving it until rubbish day, and then throwing it in the bin instead of putting it in the recycling box, or, if that were too much effort, leaving it there for me to put in the recycling box.
PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT, SOCIETY!!
(tbh it's probably just the sign of a drunkard).
Cause I will not pay a licence. I believe that the gift of Darkplace is such a sufficient gift to television that I don't believe I ever should really have to pay a licence ever again, I really don't. That's my gift; I've paid my licence, a hundred times over with just one episode of Darkplace. So if they come jipping me again for a licence... up theirs
i was separating out my recyclables back when i was a kid and you actually had to take it to the recycle bins yourself. More importantly, i have a Green Blue Peter Badge. I win.
That will do
I don't care about recycling.
I even seperate my hardcore from my unrecyclable waste (such as plasterboard) when I do major DIY on the house.
I rarely, if ever, throw away food.
However, please can you tell me why you can't put things like yoghurt pots in the recycling?
Me too. High Five for the Bin Men!
recycle, in fact it is still difficult to be totally recycling. A while ago society (in genreal) spat at and insulted people who wanted to not have a high consumer throw away society.
When I lived aesthetically people tended to shy away from me and regarded me as a weirdo (perhaps it was because i did it individually rather than as being part of a group (like krishnas or other budhists or a hippy commune))
Society gradually lumbers round to realising that which it should be doing (but far too late) it is delayed by other things that have far greater resource to influencing society (such as adverts and shiney attractive baubles that entice the eye (remember Mammon uses knowledge of human psychology to influence. Environmental campaigners use ugly blunt truths rather than slick attractive fibs and distortions, also Mammon can buy the influence over positions of political power by being the motivational force in many peoples political choices)
When you get stuff wrapped in clear moulded/shaped plastic, that can't be recycled presently in our area, it is advertising/marketing/consumerism that has dictated this choice of materials.
Here's something: I hate the fact that my rubbish bin is five times the size of my recycling box, even though we recycle five times more than we throw away.
my house recyles paper, carboard, tins, cans etc and have a compost bin thus usually only have around one bag of other rubbish a week, which, is pretty good for a a five person house.
downside, there is a massive mountain of smelly tins and old pizza boxes in our porch because we only take the recycling out to the bins around once a month!
consumer/commercial/material aspirational/regulatory forces that dictate how our lives are shaped withing the socio economic systems.....I dont know i coulod bung in some industrio whatsit complex too if you like.......its easier just to say mammon isnt it? where mammon represents trying to get something that is above what you reaaly need except to fulfil artificial needs that cause harm or real material and significant disadvantage to those that are severely under endowed with resource......it is not individuals fault that this happens but it is a collective that individuals are powerless to change. It has a momentum of its own and therefore to describe the whole beast i use the word mammon, which is in keeeping with the old religeous term.....interestingly all the abrahaimic religeons did once at least agree that mammon was a bad idea.
The use of demons and the namiong of them is both practical and wish fulfillment.........the humans worlds 'evils' are amorphous yet often interconnected, they are not isolatable and contained in one body that can be destroyed witgh a stake through the heart or with cold forged iron.......yet how to describe them without attributing blame on any one individual or groups of individuals (who would then fight back, fight their corner to accuse their accusers of hippocrasy)
It is a useful metaphore and container to describe elements that have grown more powerful and more impossible for individuals to be free from the influence of, it is to describe the negative aspects of systems which humans have nearly become as much cogs of as livestock in battery farms. It is an old term that can be used now as it could be throughout the ages.
Lanuguage is mutable, just cos i use this term does not mean i imagine a great red horned demon literally. Language and words are flexible and should be interpreted by their context.
we have communal bins - five massive ones. We have just gone to three recycling, two normal. Quite pleasing.
mainly because stupid Cardiff County Council won't send me a food recycle bin because I live in a "HMO" aka a block of flats. I really don't understand what the problem is.
The communal recycling was really detailed, toothpaste tubes in one box, cardboard drinks cartons in another, bleach bottles another etc, it kind of makes me wonder as to the efficacy of our recycling
At least not where I live. Tetra packs too.
P'raps it's because of the sticky label on them? I have no idea.
If people continue to dump crap through my letterbox without paying for it's disposal, then why should I?
If I have no space to put a recycling bin, why is that my fault?
Why does society make people feel guilty for not doing something that will make no difference at all?
I can't stand the "well we've all got to do our bit" bullshit because that is just nannying.
My point is that recycling can all be done at a waste disposal centre. In Brazil, sifting through rubbish for recyclables is a full time job, why can't we have people doing that here? Why does everyone have to be beaten with the same big stick whilst we just sit back and accept it?
Here in Holland there are many more recycling areas yet in order to move the stuff to recycle, you have to have a car. That's something I don't have so I had huge stack of beer bottles and newspapers, until I dumped them all in big bags for the binmen to collect.
cos the volumes involved make it more worthwile to have more different boxes
Its a paper/plastic compound which would make it difficult to recycle. There is also something called pure-pak which is recyclable but I dont really understand what the difference is. Im off to wiki...
However, if you don't want the crap that comes through your door, why not put up a sign saying something like "don't post crap here". not ACTUAL crap, of course.
