Would forbidding your child from listening to Radio 1 or whatever represent bad parenting?
Well, not *forbidding* per se, but say they wanted to listen to it in the car, would it be wrong for you to say "NO, YOU ARE GOING TO LISTEN TO RADIOHEAD AND ANIMAL COLLECTIVE" every single time? I think it would be. "You don't know who Britney Spears is?! Hahahahaha!" That could be traumatic for a kid. But then, I wish I'd had a better grounding in music as a child. I'm listening to Neil Young for the first time right now, and I'm thinking, this really should have come sooner. Maybe a compromise will be in order... It probably will. Nonetheless, I can see this being my greatest dilemma as a parent, should I become one. Unless they decide they want to support Arsenal. In that case, locking them under the stairs for 2 weeks, with only a bi-daily glass of dirty water to keep them going, could leave me feeling somewhat conflicted.
