Football...now in thread form!
Morning all. Everton vs Aston Villa was a bit tasty, wasn't it? Great strike from Sidwell 34 seconds in (the quickest goal in the top flight this season by quite some distance) and then a proper grandstand finish. Some slack defending from Everton but Young was worth both his goals. And what sort of haircut does Lescott have? Bizarre. WBA vs Portsmouth finished up 1-1, a point both sides deserved but I'd imagine both managers would have been desperate for all 3.
Hibs beat a below-par Celtic 2-0, with Artur Boruc's slightly cack-handed season dragging on just a bit further and Norwich triump by the same scoreline at home to Ipswich in the East Anglia derby.
Plenty of names being linked with the vacant role at Sunderland, including Sam Allardyce, Martin Jol, Avram Grant and Peter Reid. Spurs could apparently offer Liverpool Jamie O'Hara and Aaron Lennon to take Robbie Keane back, whilst Wenger has renewed his interest in Liverpool's Xabi Alonso. Owen is being linked with a cheap move to Chelsea in January (the best business they could do IMO. A decent striker, preferably a cheap one, is desperately needed) and Steve Bruce is set to slap a £10m pricetag on Emile Heskey, feeling that he is worth more to them as a player for 6 months than as a cheap transfer fee. The axe also seems to be looming just above Paul Ince, unsurprisingly.
