Despite seemingly controlling the game, Liverpool fail to really capitalise on Chelsea's weekend defeat, drawing 0-0 with West Ham. The point does still see them take the league's summit. Considering the Hammers haven't won at Anfield for 45 years, I'm sure they'll be mighty pleased with the point.
In the Championship, Reading close ground with the top two by coming from behind to beat Coventry City 3-1 and Stephen McPhail has publically apologised for sending off in the 2-2 draw between Swansea and Cardiff.
Ronaldo wins the Ballon d'Or, deservedly and unsurprisingly (although recent winners have perhaps been slightly less inclined to gamesmanship than Cristiano...had to work some kind of dig in), with Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Stephen Carr, formerly of Spurs and Newcastle has retired at the age of 32 citing injury problems, Wigan have hinted that they will sell Emile Heskey in January rather than loose him for nowt in the Summer, Yaya Toure may be the subject of a £6m bid from Arsenal, Martin O'Neil will be handed a £18m kitty solely to boost his strikeforce and Drogba/Inter Milan rumours persist, despite Kenyon's statements about a proposed transfer. In related Chelsea news, the club have reached an agreement with Lyn Oslo regarding the transfer of John Obi Mikel. Neither club will comment on what it entails, but rumours are that Chelsea recieved a small fee and will now have 'first dibs' as it were over the club's young talent for quite some time.
People that know lots more than me please add stuff below.
