Is it that hard to spell a surname?!
Another rant. Apologies.
So, my surname is "Lightbown", that's LIGHTBOWN - L-I-G-H-T-B-O-W-N.
However, everyone seems to assume my surname has a missing 'r' in it, and therefore say/spell 'lightbrown'. I have no idea why.
It didnt bother me too much until a fair few month ago. I went for an interview with ofgem, and wrote on three separate forms that my name was 'Sean Lightbown'. I get to the place for the interview, and get my temporary pass. 'Sean Lightbrown'. F*ck off. I didn't get the job, but if HR are that fecking stupid I am not too bothered.
Then, a few weeks ago, at my work now, I get sent on this training course. Now, despite my official name tag spelling my name properly, and everything on me in the department, payroll, HR etc. spelling my name correctly, I get to the course to find they have made personalised name place thingys on card. My one? 'Sean Lightbrown - statistics'.
Then a few days ago, explaining the above crap to my flatmate, he turns to me and looks surprised. I ask why - apparently he too thought my name was 'Lightbrown', despite knowing me for the last two years, and various facebookings, course meetings and the like.
So, does anyone else have trouble with their surname/firstname spellings?
