Should 14 - 18 year olds be encouraged to resist pressure to have sex?
I was reading the Scout article below and it got me thinking:

The assumption seems to be that it's a good idea to encourage 14 - 18 years olds to abstain from sex, even while accepting it might happen.
I mean obviously under-16 is agaisnt the law anyway so that has to be an official moral position and there's probably reasons why it should be the moral position but 16 - 18 it's perfectly legal so why should it be seen as a bad idea?
I guess what I'm driving at is that, to me, the better position to take would be to encourage teenagers to have a healthier attitude towards sex (i.e. that it should be about the other person's needs as well as your own, not to use people or let yourself be used, not to treat it as a think to be guilty or ashamed over etc), rather than saying "well, you shouldn't really do it"?
