the future
Do we really want robots that brush our teeth and wipe our asses. Do we really want to lose the warm feel of a nice new book in turn for downloading whole collections onto a cold sterile screen. One which can store a lifes worth of literature in the palm of our hand. Do we really want all our music digitalised: with no physical entity to hold, no art work to admire, just nothing, nothing but a string of numbers on a computer. Do we really want to lose the touch of a pen in our hand, the sense of control, of complete freedom to create, draw and shape whatever we want. With our children's hands being dropped onto a keyboard, preparing and readying them for a life which will be lived in front of a cold flickering computer screen.
Because this is where we're heading. This is the technology we're investing in. This is the life we're setting up for our children and the thing is people seem happy with this. We're slaves to our own laziness to our innate desire to expend as little energy as possible. Life's easier now, we're drowning in information, everything's available at the click of a button. But is it better? Because I tell you I think it's fucking morbid. I just really hope I'm not the only one.
