Dear CG
for decades people have been using appropriately peaceful channels of trying to get across the need to stop polluting the atmosphere.
For years the authorities have tried to cover this up by rubbishing the reputation and personality of those that have done this.
In your previous thread today you said that 'it stands more chance' ....really? how much more?
I remember from my childhood reading about how tempratures had increased since the activities of the induxstrial revolution, yet until only a few years ago the authrorities sat by perfectly happy to allow the public to be convinced against the idea of renewable energy.......most tellingly at a point when britain was in a very good position to take a lead in this (British research into wave generating power was world leading and we had thousands of shipyard workers being laid off.....riviters welders and places to build stuff)
However the feasibility was not even looked into, the government allowed the nay sayers to poo poo the idea of wave and alternative power as being too expensive (they compared it unfavourably with with nucllear power ...ignoring safety and clean up/decommissioning and long term storage costs)
Now of course that sort of thing is unviable as the labour, skills and facility tio build em are gone and set up cost would be enormous.....however given the deliberate (and pointed out at the time) ommissions of the true cost of nuclear power at teh time in the information/reason given to the public) I have little reason to doubt that this was also to convince some politicians in case they also ended up supporting, or demanding further 'fair' feasibility studies into alternatives.
As always the arguments were presented as a 'them or us' sort of scenario......cr**y confrontational british politics.
The sort that you seem to be particularly fond of doing today cg
