Worst films ever
I watched Neil LaBute's rehash of The Wicker Man last night and still can't quite get over how awful it was. A horror film without any scares or atmosphere, a remake that kept none of the successful elements of the original, terrible performances, an insultingly simple story that poitlessly convoluted itself, and dialogue that was a parody of bad dialogue.
It managed to be the most fun I'd had watching a film for ages. Nicolas Cage went beyond his usual levels of awfulness and gave his most annoying, bat-shit mental performance ever. Among the highlights was-
Dressing in a full bear costume and running awkwardly across a field to punch a woman in the face. This was the third woman he punched in the face in the film.
Getting his kneecaps broken, then being put in a helmet full of bees shouting "MY EYES! MY EYES!"
Shouting "Killing me won't bring back your fucking honey!" to Ellen Burstyn while being hoisted into the wicker statue, then burned alive.
There's something admirable about a film that fails this spectacularly.
