Petrol - Oh Bollocks.
So, Grangemouth shuts down on Sunday for two days. Not too bad you might think, and the news are saying don't panic buy. But, if you are in Scotland, I might suggest that you do:
Grangemouth processes petrols from the North Sea. It gets pumped into the pipeline from a platform called Forties Charlie (one that I have worked on) and then is sent 150km into just outside granemouth. Ineos, who run the refinery, will take about 3 weeks to get it running again (you can't just switch it off and on again) and that is only IF they get it running again.
BP, who run the pipeline and the processing plant outside of Granemouth have decided topull the plug because their power generation runs through granemouth which will be off for a while.
So, Forties Charlie, who gathers oil from over 100 different installations, and processes 200k barrels of oil a day (at $100 dollars a barrel) is pulling the plug. So, instabtly loosing $20'000'000 a day in oil.
So, yeah. Fill your car up and get the train. It might not run out.
Might.
